Chinese model wins US pageant
The Ammine International Jewelry Queen Pageant Finals 2015 held its award ceremony at Queen's Theater in New York recently. Chinese model Li Weishan (pictured) topped the Princess category, which covered the age group 18-28, while Angelina Shipilina from Russia won the first place in the Queen category, which was for those ages 29 and above. The contestants were selected from a pool of candidates from 24 countries over a period of five months. The pageant was hosted by the Sino Fashion Group New York, a Chinese American fashion company in New York.
Young designer Tang Lin holds show
Young Chinese designer Tang Lin showed her 2015 autumn/winter collection in Beijing recently. VIP clients opened the show, wearing their favorite pieces from the new collection, which featured elegant gowns, tailored coats and vintage-inspired dresses. The outfits blended Chinese and classic Western styles.
Shanghai Tang unveils new collection
Luxury fashion brand Shanghai Tang showed its 2015 autumn/winter collection at the Beijing SKP shopping mall recently. Reflecting its Chinese DNA, the collection was based on traditional heritage and had unexpected color patterns and innovative cuts. Cosmetics brand Bobbi Brown tailored a special look for the models, based on the collection.
Company shows festival offering
British accessories brand Cambridge Satchel Company showed its latest collection in Beijing recently. The Christmas collection, inspired by Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, used warm colors like dusty blue and dark red. There were also men's bags for both business and outdoor purposes. With its bags having been carried by celebrities like Taylor Swift, the brand is going to launch a special collection of red Cambridge bags for Chinese fans on Nov 11, a shopping carnival in China.
New twist to traditional outfits
BIFT Park, a fashion industry hub at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, recently held a fashion show, inviting a handful of designers to produce new versions of traditional Chinese wear. The collection included 72 men's looks and 13 pieces of womenswear, all highlighting Chinese motifs and crafts. The organizers say that the show marked the start of a series of forums and exhibitions on the theme of Chinese-inspired fashion.
