10 electric 'Chinese red' buses hit the roads in central Beijing

First10 electric "Chinese red" buses were put into service on Sunday.

Thebuses, 18 meters long in length, use PM 2.5 automatic filtration device for thefirst time, along with an enhanced safety system.

Theelectric buses are shaped like bionic dolphins with lightweight design. Theyalso have a multi-functional area for passengers who are unable to move freely.

BeijingLaoshan charging station for electric buses has been established. Fourteenvehicles can be charged in 15 to 20 minutes at one time through the high-powerquick-charging piles.

Bythe end of this year, 4,536 electric buses will hit the roads, and at least 100charging stations will be provided.

Theline one, the current route of these 10 buses, will be exclusively for electricbuses in the future as more vehicles and supporting facilities are established.
